UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN (UPK)
East Calvary Day Care is an Early Learn Program with two UPK classrooms. Our UPK curriculum is aligned with the New York City Department of Education (DOE) standards. DOE regulations for the UPK program require the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum such as The Creative Curriculum, which is used at East Calvary Day Care.
UPK provides four year-old children access to comprehensive early childhood educational experiences that promote their social-emotional, creative/expressive, physical, cognitive, linguistic and cultural development. Children are eligible for UPK in the year that they turn four years old.
Pre-K Options:
Pre-K For All is New York City’s free all day UPK class. Classes end at 3:20 PM, and all children enrolled in the Pre-K For all program must be picked up by that time.
Extended Pre-K is offered at East Calvary Day Care. Extended Pre-K ends at 6:00 PM and is offered through the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) subsidized child care program. The fee paid by families is based on family income and household size. Extended Pre-K can also be paid for privately. Please call the center for current rates.
2-Year and 3-Year Old Preschool Classes
East Calvary Day Care offers full time day care service for children aged 2.6 to 4 years old in our Preschool classrooms. The program is specifically designed to meet the needs of our children by following the Creative Curriculum which encourages children to learn through exploration and integrates all the developmental areas.
The learning goals for the children are carried out systematically through the use of “Teaching Strategies Gold” online system.
Each classroom is equipped with computers. Each classroom is divided into developmentally appropriate learning centers. We have a private playground for outdoor play and activities that promote gross motor development.
Nutrition Program
The center offers a full nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack to all enrolled children. All meals and snacks are prepared on site by our kitchen staff and are provided through the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
Hours of Operation
Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
